Axial behavior of concrete confined with flax fiber-reinforced polymers

چکیده

In recent years, the use of synthetic fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) composites has gained significant popularity in structural engineering. The confinement concrete to improve its axial behavior been one most encountered applications such FRP materials. However, these materials are far from being friendly environment due their carbon release during production. Besides, high cost is still a major issue for applications, especially developing countries. Recently, research projects on composite made natural fibers have emerged specific fields, as automotive and aircraft industries, environmental policies. previous attempts using column mostly rely conventional woven fabrics fibers. this study, FRP’s which include unidirectionally aligned flax were used low-strength concrete. This material was either utilized alone or accompanied by glass hybrid form. results demonstrate that considerable increase strength ultimate strain capacity possible even specimens confined with only FRP. A higher enhancement forms.

Axial Compressive Strength of Reinforced Concrete Columns Wrapped with Fiber Reinforced Polymers (FRP)

This paper presents the results of a study on the axial compressive strength of columnsstrengthened with FRP wrap. The experimental part of the study included testing 6 reinforcedconcrete columns in two series. The first series comprised three similar circular reinforced concretecolumns strengthened with FRP wrap. The second series consisted of three similar square columns, two with sharp corner...

Tension Softening Behavior of Fiber Reinforced Concrete

The project aims to study tensile softening behavior of fiber reinforced concrete .Concrete is very much weak in tension but by addition of randomly oriented short crimped steel fibers will change the behavior from brittle to ductile. In the present work, the steel fibers were added at the volume fraction, being 0%, 0.5%, 1%, 1.5% to the normal strength concrete and high strength concrete. The ...

Experimental Investigation of Behavior of Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete (GFRC)

The paper presents the results of casting and testing of 264 GFRC specimens. The glass fibers were 25 mm long, with the aspect ratio (L/D) ranging between 1250 and 3570. The parameters studied were the ratio (by weight) of fibers to cement, i.e. F/C=0%, 1.5%, 3%, and 4.5%, and the ratio of coarse to fine aggregates (gravel to sand), i.e. G/S=1.1, 0.7 and 0.2. In total, 12 mix designs were selec...

Bond Development Between Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymers and Concrete

Carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) sheets can be externally bonded for retrofit of concrete structures, improving flexure and sheer strength in the concrete. The key to CFRP sheets is the bond to the concrete, as bond is the means to transfer stress between the tow sheet and the concrete. Experimentation has been conducted to test a current market fiber-resin system, and to develop a resin ...
